They should never have made those new Arrested Development episodes…

I submitted this to The New Yorker about 10 days ago. Since I haven’t heard back and we are now post-Thanksgiving, I’m assuming they didn’t see it in time, and I’m sharing it with you. I’m getting rejection notices more quickly but don’t think I’m on their radar to “jump the line” and have my submissions evaluated before they come up in the queue.

Just started doodling and before I knew it I had a stern looking young man with a black eye. So of course I had to find four different stories to accompany his situation.

…except when it is. T-shirt/bumper sticker messaging is fun to play with. I really like how the drawing turned out on this one.

Many years ago I learned how to engage in reflective listening with people. So helpful.

A newer declined New Yorker cartoon. The next few you’ll see I am still learning how to use the Monoprice Drawing Tablet–as evidenced by the pixilation.
I read the phrase “positive emotional momentum” somewhere and this is the result. I like that she’s trying to explain her double scoop cone to a pigeon.

Homonyms are my friends.

One of my favorite books is Madeleine L’Engle’s Walking on Water, Reflections on Faith & Art. This quote is taken from there.

Fun to draw/paint a larger face and pair it with this quote from one of Mr. Wendell Berry’s poems.

His anger is cresting…
