Reading about President Trump’s intrepid excursion to St. John’s Church earlier this week, and seeing some accompanying images and videos, prompted my brain to pull up an old Far Side cartoon, Washington crossing the street.
I decided to pay tribute to the master, Gary Larsen, and put my own spin on his cartoon, inspired by POTUS’s recent outing. The resulting comic is below.

In light of current events, here’s a punny repost:
Old cartoon. Im with all these young people participating in the Climate Strike. Trump’s disdain toward our natural world and denial of our part in destroying it is at the top of the list for why he can’t be re-elected. He won’t personally destroy the earth (unless his narcissism, instability and ego result in nuclear war, which is possible) but his deregulation of sound environmental policies at home, refusal to participate in solutions globally, and encouragement of a “hoax” mindset have put us on a very dark path.

Had the idea to put some of the words attributed to Jesus from Luke’s gospel—with one edit—into the mouth of Mr. Trump. Yikes.
