Our story continues and finds our hero embodying a common social media persona: Spam Follower. These folks “follow” you in an attempt to inflate their numbers (and, no doubt, their ego) but, if you do not reciprocate, they drop you like a very warm potato. I’ve noticed it the most with Instagram but it’s prevalent across all platforms.
Here’s another old one, back from the black and white days, and “pre-ear.” I’m still mystified as to who gets to determine when “awareness” days are scheduled and the topic for these days–or months. I pretty sure you or I could log on to Facebook and, if we had enough followers, could arbitrarily declare today to be “National Beef Jerky Day” and it would go viral.
Anybody who engages in social media feels this at some point or another.

I don’t pretend to know all the ins and outs of the net neutrality debate (except that it’s partisan–surprise!), but here’s my silly contribution to the discussion.
