New Yorker Rejection

10-22-15 - berther202

This is my first official rejection from The New Yorker. I submitted this cartoon way back in October of last year. So it appears their review time can take up to four months–wow!

I’ve submitted a couple others already and I’m trying to complete a batch of ten to send off at the same time. I think I’m better understanding the style and sense of humor they are looking for. We’ll see.

Anyway, this cartoon idea is a bit out of date…since we have pretty much moved into a new political season. But I still like it.

3-13-15 pork - color

Here’s one from last March. I enjoy a good pulled pork sandwich.

I’d like to see a short reality series featuring Hillary, Bernie, The Donald and Ted, seated around a table eating messy food. (Each episode featuring a different item.) The catch is they cannot talk about politics. They have to talk about their favorite music, childhood pets, smart phones apps, etc.

12-5-15 commonsense - color

We are now so polarized that we can’t even pass legislation that makes sense because it would be seen as a “loss” by the powerful lobbyist groups that control our political system. Sigh.

11-22-15 refugees - color

Just doing my thing…playing around with words and situations. You can put me in the “accept refugees” camp. Even nomadic music acts. Although I’d probably be okay if we shut Madonna out.
